Concrete Slab Moisture

Guide

Concrete Slab Moisture

Installing flooring over a concrete slab without verifying moisture conditions can lead to costly failures. This guide explains why moisture testing matters and what methods are used.

01

Why moisture matters

Excess moisture in concrete can cause adhesive failure, flooring buckling, mould growth and warranty voidance.

02

ASTM F2170 - In-situ RH

The most reliable method: measures relative humidity inside the slab using calibrated probes inserted at depth.

03

ASTM F1869 - Calcium chloride

Measures the moisture vapor emission rate from the concrete surface over a 60-72 hour period.

04

Interpreting results

Results are compared to flooring manufacturer thresholds. We help you understand what the numbers mean for your project.
